Elk & Embers

This summer, Chris and I had the privilege to visit a gem tucked away in Franklin, North Carolina: Elk & Embers. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for something special.

Instead of cars buzzing around, you park at the entrance and are given your own golf cart to explore the property. It’s a simple touch, but it makes the entire resort feel so peaceful and set apart from the outside world.

We stayed in the Nuthatch Tent, and I can honestly say it’s the only “tent” I daydream about going back to. Spacious, beautifully designed, and stocked with thoughtful touches—snacks, coffee, water—it had everything we could want. The bathroom felt more like a spa retreat with a soaking tub and gorgeous details, the king-size bed was luxuriously comfortable, and the fireplace made it cozy. But the real showstopper? The porch. Sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains stretched out before us, and yes—there was even a private outdoor shower!

Mornings quickly became my favorite part of the day. We sipped coffee on the porch, did a little work while enjoying the view, and let the mountain air set the tone for our day. And while we balanced a bit of work, we also soaked up plenty of play. From scenic golf cart trail rides to a picnic on the lawn with breathtaking views, every detail felt intentional and memorable.

Elk & Embers isn’t just glamping—it’s an invitation to slow down, savor the beauty of nature, and reconnect in a truly special setting. If you’re craving a serene mountain getaway that blends comfort, adventure, and unforgettable views, I can’t recommend Elk & Embers enough.
